1. What made you decide to have WLS surgery?
All my life I've had zero confidence following my sisters footsteps (my 3 sisters are all slim)I looked in the mirror and hated what and who I saw.. I can't believe I looked like that, it was really gross. I had been doing research about WLS for a very long time. When my partner said to me that he would pay for the surgery if I really wanted it. I spoke to a very great surgeon who helped my friend. I couldn't believe my dream was finally coming true. 7th Dec 2020, was that date my journey started.. Now I look in the mirror and love who I've become, I have heaps if energy, I'm a size 12 now, I've never been that small EVER. My partner loves the new me, I have confidence I'm not negative..
I'm just so happy.

2. What was your weight prior to your WLS, and... What’s the goal?
My highest weight was 125kgs, at the start if my journey I was 120kgs, I've successfully achieved my goal at 70kgs as from the 7th June, 7 months post op.

3. Did you get to the weight you wanted?
Yes a lot quicker than I thought. My dietitian is so proud of what I have done in 7 months.

4. How do you feel now that you have had the surgery?
I feel amazing, I look like a new person. I sleep better, ..now I except people's compliments without hiding my face... I'm proud of what I have accomplished.

5. Were there any problems along the way?
No, there has been no problems at all, I watch what I eat and the quantities. There's a lot if food I don't miss. I can live without junk food. If I feel I want a sweet biscuit I will have only one.... then I'm happy.

6. Would you do it again now that you know what you know?
Surgery yes in a heart beat.. my family don't know about my WLS because they think that surgery is the losers way out...I don't really care what they think.. it was my decision. I didn't see my family for 2 months after my surgery. The only person whose been there is my partner. He's been my rock, so has the BN Facebook support. Eating junk food... never again.

7. What are some of the inspiring things you can think of that you have noticed along the way?
Well where do I start... I used to snore very loud, now I don't. I can look in the mirror when trying clothes on, before I just look on the hanger and said yeap that will fit, I never tried on clothes at all until now. The weight loss gave me enough confidence to join the gym, where I worked out 5 times a week, I wouldn't have even thought of going to the gym because people stare and judged me. The surgery has given me a healthier outlook, it's changed how I see food and how to enjoy what I eat... My outlook on life has done a 360... I love my life now.

8. Did you have some happy unexpected surprises?
Oh yes my partner brought me a new car as a well done gift. I never new about it, it was a total surprise. Also he gave me a card to use to buy my new wardrobe... size 24 clothes down to a size 12...

9. What advice do you have for anyone preparing for surgery?
Things will get tough, but hang in there it will get better the journey your about to start, will be the biggest journey of your life. You get onto the BN Facebook there's hundreds of people who you can talk to you tell them there stories... Me being on here has changed my life, the support I get on the BN Facebook is so overwhelming.

10. What is the one very best thing that has resulted from your surgery?
The best result I've had, is NOW being smaller than 2 of my sisters. I had to laugh, my sister asked me for all my fat clothes. The 2 hardest things that I had to endure, is the loss of my lovely long hair and now the excess skin. My partner will pay for the excess skin to be removed if I want to.
