1. What made you decide to have wls surgery?
I decided to look into wls as I was turning 43 & my mum had her 1st heart attack at 43 & I felt I was walking down the same path as her with health issues.
2. What was your weight prior to your WLS, and... What’s the goal?
My heaviest weight I’ve ever been was 150kg however I started off at my 2wk pre op diet at 140.8kg.. I have 2 goals the first being 99kg as I don’t ever remember being double digits then after that 90kg.
3. Did you get to the weight you wanted?
I’m currently 6mths post op & sitting at 99kgs
4. How do you feel now that you have had the surgery?
I feel alive after having the surgery. So much more active & so much more out going.
5. Were there any problems along the way?
I’ve had no problems along my journey
6. Would you do it again now that you know what you know?
Yes, I’d do it again in a heart beat
7. What are some of the inspiring things you can think of that you have noticed along the way?
Fitting into sizes ive never been in before, getting compliments from people of how good I look.
8. Did you have some happy unexpected surprises?
Every day I was losing was a happy surprise, especially when you start to fit into smaller sizes.
9. What advice do you have for anyone preparing for surgery?
Do it you won’t regret it. I only wished I’d done it years ago
10. What is the one very best thing that has resulted from your surgery? What has been the hardest part of your journey?
I think hitting 99kg was the best thing for me, I wanted it so much & eventually I got there. To know my family are very proud of me for doing this & basically saving my life as my doctor told me with my high blood pressure I had (which I don’t now) I was a walking time bomb & I’ve eliminated all those health issues my mum had with heart & diabetes. Sadly my mum had a massive heart attack 4yrs ago & passed away but I know she would be very proud of me & knowing I’m a lot more healthier than I ever was. Hardest part of this journey was losing friends because I was doing the surgery, they didn’t want to support my decision.
